Andronicas World of Coffee Opens at Harrods in London
Harrods’ newest restaurant will delight coffee enthusiasts everywhere. Andronicas World of Coffee has selected some of the finest and rarest coffee beans on the planet and will custom roast and grind the beans to the customer’s specification.
The coffee selection includes highly sought after coffees from traditional areas, such as Brazil and Java, as well as more exotic destinations like the Galapagos Islands and Hawaii.
Harrods customers will be among a select group of people with the opportunity to appreciate and purchase some of the winners of the prestigious Cup of Excellence ® award, an accolade granted to only a small number of coffees globally and the most esteemed award given out for top coffees.
The Cup of Excellence award comes from a strict competition that selects the very best coffee produced in that country for that particular year. The winning coffees are chosen by a group of national and international cuppers and are cupped at least five different times during the competition process.
Coffees of this exemplary quality are very rare. These coffees are perfectly ripe, carefully picked with well developed body, pleasant aroma and a lively sweetness that only extremely high quality specialty coffees contain. Each winning coffee has its own flavor signature from the earth where it grows and all have been handcrafted in such a way as to enhance these unique characteristics
Only coffees that continuously score high enough are allowed to move forward in the competition. The final winners are awarded the prestigious Cup of Excellence ® and sold to the highest bidder during an internet auction.
While waiting for their freshly roasted beans, customers will be able to sit and savour a coffee in the store, with a full range of coffee styles, and a choice between Cup of Excellence ® blend or the Fair Trade Espresso blend.
A variety of reviving teas, fresh fruit juices and soft drinks, and a range of delicious pastries and desserts, light lunch plates and tasty snacks will also be on offer. And for the true coffee aficionado, there will be the World of Coffee Connoisseurs Club, which will offer members privileged access to new coffees, special offers and exclusive events.
Andronicas World of Coffee opens on 12 December 2007 and will be open from 11am to 7pm Mon-Sat and 12-6pm Sunday. It will be located on 4th floor, next to the Way In department and Kurt Geiger shoes.
