Jesmond Dene House Festival of Food and Wine (England)
The 2008 Jesmond Dene House Festival of Food and Wine runs between April 27th and May 5th with mouth-watering menus, tempting treats and sensational chefs. What takes your fancy? Dinner with Michael Caines, a chocolate tasting, a vegetarian feast, Terry Laybourne’s cooking secrets, a clutch of Michelin-starred women…
The Great Women Chefs gala dinner sees Claire Clark, one of the world’s top pastry chefs, flying in from California’s three-Michelin-starred The French Laundry to join Michelin-starred Head Chefs, Frances Atkins (Yorkshire’s The Yorke Arms) and Lisa Allen (Lancashire’s Northcote Manor).
Making up the quintet are Kate Johnson of Juniper, Altrincham (also one star) and Skye Gyngell of Richmond’s ultra-trendy Petersham Nurseries Café.
Michael Caines, current AA Chef’s Chef of the Year, and John Campbell of The Vineyard are two more star-spangled chefs who will be cooking during the week as part of the Jesmond Dene House Festival of Food and Wine.
William Curley, Britain’s top chocolatier, is also giving a divine demonstration while John Williams, Executive Chef of The Ritz - and son of a Tyneside fisherman - is recreating his hotel’s legendary afternoon tea.
There’s also a gourmet vegetarian tasting menu (from The Lanesborough’s Paul Gayler), a family barbecue (with Britain’s world-bearing BBQ team) and an Indian cookery demonstration by Sanjay Dwivedi of award-winning Zaika.
With a Sicilian wine tasting, a Taste of Lancashire plus cookery secrets from Terry Laybourne, the region’s leading chef restaurateur, all tastes are catered for.
Jesmond Dene House is one and a half miles north of Newcastle city centre in Northern England.
