Urban Beach’s New Spring Menu (Bournemouth, England)

The bar at the Urban Beach in BournemouthAfter weeks of tramping across farmland in search of the perfect pig, the liveliest livestock and the cheekiest chicken, the Urban Beach has now officially launched its new spring menu.

The creator of the menu is new chef Quentin Royles, who has 13 years experience and is passionate about finding the best local produce with which to create unique British cooking with a quirky Urban Beach touch.

Starters include stuffed New Forest Portobello mushroom, oak smoked salmon and vine tomato tart, and local Cranborne Estate game terrine with red currant and cardamom jelly.

Tasty mains include freshly prepared Cranborne estate rare breed beef burger, with home made fries, house made pappardelle with sauté tiger prawns, and the Urban Beach signature dish: spiced barramundi, pancetta and chilli risotto with chanternay carrot and Hampshire watercress puree.

And, if you can squeeze in a little extra the desserts include cinnamon and apple rice pudding, toffee and ice cream pavlova, and a selection of local cheeses, including Hampshire rose, woodfalls oak or blue vinney.

The Urban Beach serves a great range of drinks from fresh juices to wines, beers and cider. The bar, which is manned by resident mixologists, James Fowler and Danielski, also serves a feisty range of cocktails, all made from natural ingredients and the finest spirits.

The Urban Beach Ice Tea includes James’ 100% natural homemade cola syrup, the Bloody Mary is made from plump pureed tomatoes and the signature Dorset Blues Mohito includes Dorset Blueberries and freshly squeezed Coxes apples. James also makes his own infused vodkas, including peppercorn and lemongrass so you’re guaranteed every drink is as unique as the bar itself.

Menu prices range from £3.95 to £6.95 for starters and sandwiches, £7.95 to £14.95 for mains and £4 for desserts. The restaurant is open 7 days a week serving breakfast from 8.30 to 11.30, lunch and dinner from 12.00 to 10.00. The Urban Beach also has live music from local band every Thursday from 7.30.

The Urban Beach is Bournemouth’s only boutique hotel and is located at 23 Argyll Road, Boscombe, Bournemouth, BH5. It has 12 rooms ranging in price from £70 to £170.

A former Spa resort, Boscombe is currently being returned to its original glory and is enjoying an £8 million investment programme. As part of this the area will be home to Europe’s first artificial surf reef, a new pier and an exclusive development of seafront apartments and shops.
