2008 Masterclass Weekend at Hilton Brisbane (26 & 27 July)

chef Xavier Pellicer from Abac Restaurant, BarcelonaDon’t miss out on seeing, hearing and tasting the latest in food and wine at this year’s Masterclass Weekend, to be held on 26 & 27 July at Hilton Brisbane.

The cooking session will incorporate some prime Queensland produce, including Bethonga Gold pineapples, Granite Belt mushrooms, Banyard Farm quail, Gallozola bluevein cheese from the Atherton Tableland as well as Hervey Bay scallops, custard apples and spanner crabs.

Truffles are being sourced from Western Australia and the best beef, fish and lamb for the chefs’ demonstrations are on the way to the Hilton kitchens to be prepared for tasting.

Wines from around the world have been arriving at Hilton Brisbane ready for the tastings, including the fabulous eleven Dr Loosen Rieslings from Germany that will take centre stage in the Vintage Room. Wines from Ballandean Estate and Boireann will also be featured in tastings.

A number of the Masterclass Weekend sponsors have generously offered prizes including:

  • Executive Chef with Kitchen Aid Mixers and Magimix Food Processors;
  • magnums of Pinot Noir and Sparkling Brut from Nick Farr and Stefano Lubiana respectively;
  • a swag of book vouchers from Folio Books including one prize of $1,000.

For those attending the daily chocolate and coffee session there is a special treat in store: the opportunity to win the first release of the Lindt Chocolate cookbook and a year’s supply of Merlo Coffee! This alone is enough of an enticement to be part of the best food and wine event in Queensland.

Staff at Hilton Brisbane have been cleaning, polishing, counting and sorting for weeks in preparation for the arrival of the guest chefs and winemakers. At latest count in excess of 10,000 glasses and 7,000 plates will be used over the weekend.
