The Vegetarian Society Awards 2008 - Shortlists Announced
The British Vegetarian Society announced the products and venues shortlisted for its 2008 Awards.
The nominations for the awards were voted for through the charity’s website and members’ magazine.
The Awards are in their eighth year and promote best practice among caterers, manufacturers and retailers, and highlight the importance of integrity in the vegetarian marketplace.
Best UK Independent Restaurant for Vegetarian Food

Best UK Independent Pub for Vegetarian Food
- The George, Brighton
- The Red Lion, Great Bricett, Suffolk
- The 78, Glasgow
Best Vegetarian Ready-made Dessert
- Alpro Soya Dessert – Chocolate flavour
- Gu Little Pots au Chocolat
- Marks & Spencer Melty Middle Chocolate Dessert
- Swedish Glace Ice cream – Vanilla flavour

Nominations will now be reviewed by a panel of judges and mystery diners will be visiting venues. The winners will be announced in mid October.
