The inaugural edition of The Miele Guide, Asia’s first truly independent and authoritative restaurant guide launches on 31 October 2008 at a star-studded dinner held in Singapore. The 2008/2009 edition of this new annual guide will then be available at major bookstores throughout Asia on 1 November 2008.

Matt Tebutt, the chef behind the multi-award-winning Welsh restaurant The Foxhunter at Nantyderry in Monmouthshire, is bringing a taste of the countryside into the home with the publication next month of his recipe book Matt Tebbutt Cooks Country. The host of UKTV Food’s Market Kitchen has compiled 150 rustic recipes which combine his love of modern British cooking with that of the countryside.

Thanks to his Mum encouraging him to bake cakes, Bryan Webb side-stepped a job down the mines - as a school-leaving Valleys boy at that time was expected to do - opting to become a chef instead. As luck would have it, his first job was with Sonia and Neville Blech at The Crown in Whitebrook, near Monmouth - the only Michelin starred restaurant in Wales.

Roger Saul, founder of Sharpham Park the premium organic spelt food label and fashion label Mulberry, has opened The Sharpham Park Shop, situated in the Great House at Kilver Court Gardens in Somerset. The Sharpham Park Shop is the destination for spelt in the UK showcasing all Sharpham Park spelt produce including mueslis, breads, pearled spelt and flours as well as a whole new collection of exciting breakfast products.

The British Cheese Awards, the annual celebration of the very best of the British Cheese industry, has announced the winners of this year’s hard fought competition, with quality being recognised across the board, in both artisan and commercial sectors. Of the record breaking 910 cheeses entered into this year’s Awards, the Supreme Champion was Barkham Blue from the Two Hoots creamery based in Barkham, Berkshire.
