Scrabster seafood restaurant The Captain’s Galley is fast gathering gastronomic pace with its latest accolade: Best Fish Restaurant in the UK as voted by the Which? Good Food Guide 2009. One of just 10 restaurants highlighted in the Which? Good Food Guide Editor’s Choice Awards, The Captain’s Galley serves sustainable seafood landed less than 100 meters from its front door, and is the only restaurant in Scotland to net the coveted Good Food Guide title.

Following a highly successful first year in 2007, the BBC Good Food Show Scotland is delighted to be returning to the SECC this autumn between 31 October and 2 November. Celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and James Martin will once again top the bill as the show brings together top quality local producers in a showcase of Scotland’s culinary heritage and expertise. Last year nearly 15,000 visitors enjoyed a day at the show and this year even more are expected to come to the SECC looking for advice and inspiration from the country’s top chefs and the chance to buy great quality food from local producers.

The world’s biggest arts festival is nearly upon us and this year there’s definitely more than creative juices flowing: visitors to the festival will find their lips watering at over 40 food-orientated offerings on the programme. There’s even a special “Foodies at the Festival” event featuring Edinburgh’s three Michelin-starred chefs and ten other top Scottish favourites, not to mention an opportunity for visitors to get their teeth into local Scottish produce from the 70 stands there.

With sensational views across Loch Awe, the setting of the dining room at Ardanaiseig is as inspiring as the food. The five-course gourmet menu is a lavish affair worth travelling for, with French-influenced dishes featuring local fish for which the West Coast is so famous, as well as local game, meat and hand-picked wild herbs and mushrooms.

Amber Restaurant, the renowned Scottish restaurant within the popular visitor attraction The Scotch Whisky Experience, has received the Gold Award from dining website toptable.co.uk. The award comes after exceptional feedback from diners at the traditional Scottish venue who have booked their meal through the popular website.
