UK, French and Spanish chefs battled it out at a grueling live cook-off in the Loire Valley, France for the International Mâche Match 2008 on Thursday 6 November. Nick Chapman, House of Commons sous chef came second in the competition, scoring highest overall in the surprise basket round and impressing the international panel of judges.

Matt Tebutt, the chef behind the multi-award-winning Welsh restaurant The Foxhunter at Nantyderry in Monmouthshire, is bringing a taste of the countryside into the home with the publication next month of his recipe book Matt Tebbutt Cooks Country. The host of UKTV Food’s Market Kitchen has compiled 150 rustic recipes which combine his love of modern British cooking with that of the countryside.

During Seafood Fortnight (5th through 21st September), Ceviche Masterclasses will be available to guests at Gaucho’s eleven London restaurants. Guests will be invited to make three ceviches themselves and to taste all six with specially selected wines, including Argentina’s own Torrontés, a highly aromatic grape variety. There will also be Ceviche Specials on offer to diners during the two week period.
