Leeds-based Pantin Hotels is collaborating with world-renowned chef, Albert Roux OBE, for its first luxury boutique hotel, The Ellington. Albert Roux will oversee menu creation in all areas at The Ellington in Leeds, ensuring that the finest produce is used, that it is in season, and where possible, sourced from local suppliers.

Bristol is known for its numerous food festivals which fill the summer months. With news that a new Wine and Food Fair will be greeting Bristolians this summer alongside the Bristol Vegan Fayre, Bristol Harbourside Festival and Organic Food Festival, the city’s focus on good food and drink is clear to see.

For the fortnight between Monday 19th May to Sunday 1st June 2008, the General Tarleton Inn at Ferrensby in North Yorkshire hosts a Lobster and Asparagus Festival celebrating local asparagus from nearby Helperby and delicious English shellfish on all the menus created by the Inn’s award-winning owner and chef, John Topham.

As far as restaurants go, Bristol has number of real gems that are not afraid to stand out from the crowd. New restaurants are opening all the time and Bristol’s £500 million Cabot Circus development, due to open in the autumn, will bring 20 more restaurants and cafes to the city centre at one fell swoop.
