Don’t miss out on seeing, hearing and tasting the latest in food and wine at this year’s Masterclass Weekend, to be held on 26 & 27 July at Hilton Brisbane. Tickets are selling fast and those in the know have bought their seats early to enjoy a great line-up of chefs and winemakers. The cooking session will incorporate some prime Queensland produce, including Bethonga Gold pineapples, Granite Belt mushrooms, Banyard Farm quail, Gallozola bluevein cheese from the Atherton Tableland as well as Hervey Bay scallops, custard apples and spanner crabs.

Ambassade de l’Ile, the London debut of two Michelin-starred chef Jean-Christophe Ansanay-Alex, opens its doors to the public at the beginning of July. He has taken the corner site at 117/119 Old Brompton Road – a building steeped in restaurant heritage - which has been completely refurbished. As well as a restaurant, it is the UK ‘embassy’ for l’Ile Barbe, which declared itself “an independent and sovereign state” in 1977, and Jean-Christophe Ansanay-Alex is its honorary governor.

Test Your knowledge on all things foodie at a themed pub quiz on Wednesday 9th July to raise money for charity. The Coach & Horses, the stunning Victorian gastro-pub in Clerkenwell, London will be donating 50% of all food bills on the evening to Action Against Hunger.

Cardiff Bay’s impressive waterfront will once again be a food lover’s paradise when the Welsh capital holds its annual International Food & Drink Festival (11-13 July 2008). Many of the companies taking part are True Taste Wales Food and Drink Award winners, and everything from cakes, seafood and liqueurs to chocolate, cheese and meat will be available to try and buy.

Nestling in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the heart of Virginia’s wine country, the Boar’s Head Inn is offering a two-night special cookery weekend for July 18 & 19 called ‘Roots and fruits from our Boar’s Head Inn Garden’. Additional cookery weekends are scheduled for August and November 2008.

The Taste of Bath Festival, whose inaugural event in 2007 was a huge success, will be returning to Royal Victoria Park from the 3rd to the 6th of July 2008. Foodie Heaven will be staged once again against the stunning backdrop of the iconic Royal Crescent.
