The British Vegetarian Society announced the products and venues shortlisted for its 2008 Awards. The nominations for the awards were voted for through the charity’s website and members’ magazine. The Awards are in their eighth year and promote best practice among caterers, manufacturers and retailers, and highlight the importance of integrity in the vegetarian marketplace.

The kitchens and restaurants at The Reefs have undergone an “extreme makeover,” and the result is nothing short of spectacular. More than $3 million have been invested in the complete redevelopment of the kitchens alone at The Reefs. The two expanded and redesigned restaurants, Ocean Echo and Royston’s designed by Vision Design (Rosewood’s Mansion on Turtle Creek), have just reopened.

With sensational views across Loch Awe, the setting of the dining room at Ardanaiseig is as inspiring as the food. The five-course gourmet menu is a lavish affair worth travelling for, with French-influenced dishes featuring local fish for which the West Coast is so famous, as well as local game, meat and hand-picked wild herbs and mushrooms.

Amber Restaurant, the renowned Scottish restaurant within the popular visitor attraction The Scotch Whisky Experience, has received the Gold Award from dining website toptable.co.uk. The award comes after exceptional feedback from diners at the traditional Scottish venue who have booked their meal through the popular website.

There’s a new highlight on Istanbul’s restaurant scene: the exclusive Gaja Roof Restaurant at the Swissôtel The Bosphorus. Since reopening last summer, the restaurant has developed into a major hotspot on Istanbul’s fine dining scene.

New for summer 2008, Hotel L’Avenida, located in the heart of Soller on Mallorca’s North West coast, is introducing a mouth-watering tapas menu featuring traditional tapa favourites and new gourmet wine tours in partnership with local vineyard, Macia Batle, based in Santa Maria.
